Fall 2019 Move-In

We're excited to welcome you to your new home on campus! Time to start planning and get ready to move in.

Residence Halls

Move-In Dates

You are strongly encouraged to arrive on your designated Move-In day. We are able to provide the best service on these specific days including hall welcome events, parking and traffic control, and staff availability.

I-Guides will be able to provide move-in assistance on August 20 and 22 between 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

  • Tuesday, August 20 for new residents of living-learning communities participating in LLC Orientation
  • Thursday, August 22 for new freshmen and transfer students
  • Saturday, August 24 for returning students (no I-Guide assistance provided)

However, we are open 24-hours a day starting at noon on Sunday, August 18 — you can check in anytime day or night.

Need to move in early?

If there is a need to come to campus prior to the designated Move-In days above, you may move in between noon on Sunday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 21. No registration is needed — just show up at the front desk of the hall you are assigned to with your i-card or other photo ID. There are additional fees as these dates fall outside your University Housing Contract.

See Early Arrival information page for more details and rates.

If you will be unable to arrive by the first day of classes on Monday, August 26, notify the Housing Information Office of when you intend to check in. If you arrive after August 27 without notifying the Housing Information Office, your assignment may change. Failure to claim your room assignment does not automatically cancel your contract.

Meals

Dining meal plans begin on August 22 with breakfast. The deadline to make meal plan changes for the fall semester is September 21.

Parking

Parking on campus is very limited. Upon your arrival, you may unload your vehicle from a curb or metered space nearest your residence hall (do not leave your car unattended while unloading). For longer term visitor parking that same day you must contact Campus Parking at (217) 333-3530 or www.parking.illinois.edu. Meters and lots are enforced by Campus Parking during move-in. University Housing is not responsible for parking tickets you may receive.

International Students

Review the International Move-In page for information specific to your needs.

Sherman and Daniels Halls

Residents must apply online to move in prior to the above dates. See Early Arrival information for more details and rates.

Parking at Daniels Hall:

Urbana parking meters are located along Gregory Street. There are no meters in B10 or B11 lots. B10 Lot will be used as a “Load and Go lot” location that is accessed from Daniels via the East side exit and entry points.
